I was born in Italy, the second of three sisters. My father, being his first child a girl, was ready for a boy and did not seem to take notice of the hard reality of my gender. So, I hang out with him, doing guys’ stuff. My childhood activities consisted of fishing too early in the morning, riding motorcycles, digging and planting gardens, picking olives, building a variety of things with masonry or wood, etc… Luckily my dad also truly loved cooking and eating wonderful meals, so I was his prep cook at a very early age. Even though later on I opted out of getting up at three in the morning to sit on a freezing boat hoping for a nudge to my bait, I always enjoyed the benefits of my early cooking lessons. This blog is about the true Italian cuisine, which is different from Italian cuisine in America. If it sparks your interest, you will learn that cooking In Italy is about taking time to combine the right foods, balancing their taste and nutritional properties; combining just a few ingredients so that you can distinguish their flavor in the finished meal, and of course, about love and taking time to share the delicious fruit of your labor with family and friends.

When the ingredients have their true flavor cooking is a pleasure and not a chore or a challenge. The results are very gratifying.
Choosing natural food is better for our health and the health of our planet.
